If you have any questions or want to know more information, you may visit the neerlea website by Clicking Here What is Law Enforcement Exploring?Law Enforcement Exploring is a young adult program of the Learning For Life Organization for men and women aged 14 through 21 years of age. The purpose of exploring is to provide experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Explorers are ready to investigate the meaning of interdependence in their personal relationships and communities. This is also an excellent opportunity to experience law enforcement as a possible career choice. Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and the Danbury Police Department. The Danbury Police Department’s Explorer Program is a leadership development program of various community service based activities that help participating youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop. Training and educational activities are conducted on a regular basis by trained and certified police officer instructors. With over 40 years of service to the greater Danbury community, our police explorer program has an established record of success in developing tomorrow’s community, business and industry leaders. MeetingsWhen: Thursday evenings, weekly Time: 6:00- 9:00 PM Location: Danbury Police Department Headquarters 375 Main Street, Danbury, CT Uniform: Class B BDU's What you get out of being a police explorerThe Danbury Police Explorer Post provides a positive experience for young people who are interested in learning and developing skills that will assist them in whatever career they choose. Explorers become positive role models for their peers and young children. Members serve the community while gaining career development experience. Law Enforcement ExploringThe Law Enforcement Exploring Program is a training program for young people who have an interest in a career in Law Enforcement. Members of the Danbury Police Explorer Post help the community, learn leadership skills, and assist police officers. Through the Exploring Program, Explorers gain experience by riding along with police officers, working in the Police Headquarters building, attending a 130-hour academy, helping with police training and more. Explorers receive police-type training and use that training to compete against other posts at Explorer conferences nationwide. Members of the Danbury Police Explorer Post have received awards in firearms competition, building search, physical agility, suspicious persons and many more. The Danbury Police Explorer Post has been named one of the 3 top programs in New England for three consecutive years.
